Land Management Plan

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Municipal District of Taber is developing a strategy and policy to guide the management of municipally owned lands, including leases for Cultivation (Dryland and Irrigation), Grazing, and Tax Recovery Grazing.

LAND MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FRAMEWORK

In February 2024, the Municipal District of Taber engaged Catalyst Communications to support MD Administration in the collection of resident input and feedback as part of the organization’s review of its Land Management Strategy (LMS). The desire for thorough public consultation was consistent throughout the organization, coming at the request of both MD of Taber Council and members of Administration assigned to the project team for the LMS. Consultation was designed in such a manner that resident input would be collected on all three types of lands in question, pertaining specifically to MD Tax Recovery Lands, MD Grazing Lands, and MD Cultivation Lands. This was in recognition of the unique terms associated with each type of lease. Review the 'What We Heard Report' below.
